Roomba s9+ iRobot from iRobot
This is a top model from iRobot and performs extremely well. It is able to move effortlessly across different surfaces, and is extremely efficient at taking dust, dirt and other debris up. It’s also very well-constructed and looks pretty nice as well.
The S9 is the latest model in iRobot’s premium S Series line of robot vacuums. As such, it comes with a handful of extra features that set it apart from lesser models. The iRobot App can utilize, for instance, the camera to create a map that assists the robot to navigate and clean efficiently.
It will also return to the place where it started if its battery is depleted during the cleaning process and you don’t need to re-clean the same spots. You can also manually start and stop cleaning sessions using an easy voice command or through the iRobot app. The smart vacuum can also clean in the dark!
Carpet Boost is another great feature. It provides the S9 more suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, meaning it will be able to pick up more dirt. The S9 has an open-front design that allows it to be closer to walls and corners than older round designs. But, be aware that this model isn’t able to work well with high-pile or shag carpeting.
In our tests during our testing, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a variety of flooring surfaces, ranging from medium-pile to hard carpets and rug. It also did well on vinyl, and laminate flooring. It also did a nice job of maneuvering between furniture and objects although it struggled a bit with stairs, where it can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.
The S9’s ability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin once it is full was a great feature. It cut down on the necessity for manual maintenance. The dust bin should last about 30 loads, or around one month or so, and you’ll have to replace the filter every once every few months (which is actually recommended by iRobot). In our experience, the iRobot S9+ doesn’t get loud during operation which makes it a good choice for people who live with pets or children.

A great feature on the X8 Hybrid is that you can start the vacuum or mop with your voice, thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot more hands-free. And it is very effective in our test home.
As with many robotic vacuums the X8 Hybrid has some issues with floors that are bare. It can be unable to see pet hair or small objects, and is more likely to get into things – such as its own charger on the base of its charging. It’s also not as quiet, and the whirring sound could be distracting as with other models.
Roborock V3S Pro
The robot doesn’t have as many features as some of the more expensive models we tested, but it has all the basics. It has a huge enough dust bin that can hold plenty of dirt before it’s empty, and its vacuum and mop system is perfect for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It’s also extremely quiet. We were able watch the TV while it was cleaning without feeling like we were being overwhelmed by the sound.
Our test subjects were extremely impressed by how simple the machine was to operate and set up. They also appreciated its ability to remove all the messes from their flooring. It was successful in getting rid of pet hair, messes, and carpeting however, it had a harder time getting rid of stains that were stubborn. The app was easy to use and user-friendly. They could schedule the vacuum to clean regularly to reduce the amount of manual work. It doesn’t have any mapping or object avoidance technology, so it can’t be sent to specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries work).
Another model from iRobot’s low-cost line that is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the price. It was the best of all robotic vacuums in our tests when it comes to finding and avoiding obstacles and it’s the best budget option for those who want a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that can handle pet hair and messes on both hardwood floors and low-pile carpeting. It’s also extremely quiet and has a large dust bin that can hold plenty of debris before it needs to be emptied.
Although the V3S Pro didn’t earn a place in any of our top choices compilations from trusted sources that perform hands-on testing, it still was highly praised by reviewers from Modern Castle, Smart robot vacuum and mop combo Reviews and The Ambient. They were impressed with how easy it was to setup and use, but they also noted that its battery life is limited and it wasn’t able to stay clear of some of the most stubborn mess we’ve put it through.

You can also build virtual barriers to keep your robot from certain areas or clean only certain types of flooring. It is also able to adjust its power settings based on the type of floor being cleaned and select the most efficient cleaning method.
In contrast to other robot vacuum cleaner with mop vacuums like the Q Revo, it can lift both mops as it vacuums to prevent staining your carpet fibres. In fact, it’s the few vacuums on market that can do this.
When it comes to mopping the Q Revo’s 5500Pa suction powers are enough to suck up specks of dust or pet hair strands, and other debris. The all-rubber brush can be used to disentangle human and animal hair as it adapts to uneven surfaces.
The only drawback is that it takes some time to fill and empty the clean and dirty water tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the container after a couple of days.
