iRobot Roomba j7+
The j7+ robotic vacuum is among the most intelligent we’ve ever tested. It is packed with amazing features like advanced obstacle detection. It connects to your Wi-Fi to let you make a schedule for cleaning and block off sections of your home for specific times of the day. It also connects to Alexa and Google Assistant and lets you use voice commands to start and stop your desired schedule. The navigation system is highly accurate, meaning it doesn’t ping-pong across walls and furniture as much as cheaper models. It is able to recognize items in your home like pet waste or power cords, shoes and even shoes and stay clear of them when it sees them.
It can also alter its head height to better remove dirt. It is unable to climb onto high-pile carpet, but it does an excellent job taking pet hair and larger debris from floors.
In our testing the j7+ performed for around 85 minutes before it needed to dock and recharge. The robot will automatically return to the place it left off and complete its cleaning task. It’s not the longest battery life we’ve ever seen from a robot but it’s still a fantastic run. Once it’s back at full charge the j7+ immediately resumes its mapping and cleaning task.
The out-of-the-box setup is straightforward, and the iRobot app makes it easy to set up a clean schedule and add floor plans or rooms. Clean Base is a stylish design that includes trash bins that are channeled and a leather pull tab. It comes with a few parts that require regular maintenance however, the iRobot app offers instructions and videos for tutorials. It has a tab for maintenance which provides details about each part of the machine.
Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision
Miele is a name synonymous with quality and its latest robotic vacuum certainly lives up to expectations. Scout RX3 Home Vision has an app that is smart and has remote control, along with voice-based integrations such as Alexa. It is an ideal choice for those looking to automate cleaning. The two cameras on the front of the machine permit it to create an accurate map, which enables it to stay clear of obstructions and clean all areas. This allows it to clean under furniture and other hard-to-reach places. In addition to its 3D smart navigation, it also features effective obstacle avoidance, meaning that it won’t be stuck and will not push objects that are small or light like socks or toys.
In addition to these intelligent features, it’s easy to empty the dust container, which can be done by pressing the app. The top of the dust container opens to reveal the handle, which allows you to easily lift it and empty into a trash bin. Miele also comes with two carpet side brushes, one having six arms to scrub hard floors and the other with 20 arms to clean high-pile rugs. They can be used with the vacuum cleaner to clean corners.
As with other robots in its class like the Scout RX3 Home Vision is capable of scheduling cleaning times for certain days and areas. The Scout RX3 HomeVision can be controlled via a mobile application, but also remotely using a remote control or voice commands. In terms of runtime the Miele can be cleaned for up to 60 minutes, which is lower than other options like the Ultenic T10 and Roborock S6 MaxV, but it still offers excellent cleaning performance.
Shark IQ Robot Vacuum
Shark IQ is an affordable robot vacuum with plenty of features. It comes with a bin that holds up to 30 days of debris, and its navigation system is among the most effective available. It has physical boundaries to keep it from straying into areas you don’t wish it to. It can also be controlled via voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The companion app lets you see the robot’s current status and receive push notifications, pause and resume cleaning sessions, create schedules, and more.
The setup process is quick and easy and a friendly female voice walking you through the steps. If you do not have WiFi, you can still operate the robot manually by pressing the two buttons on the top of the robot. You can use these to begin or stop a cleaning process or to pause or resume charging, and manually send it back to the dock. Eufy 11s
The Eufy 11s doesn’t require an application to download and does not require Wi-Fi to operate. It’s powered by rechargeable batteries and the remote. This makes it an excellent choice for people who prefer to set a daily cleaning schedule using the remote instead of a smartphone or who want a vacuum cleaner that isn’t connected to the internet and is able to work offline. The 11s is not connected to the internet, which means you aren’t able to monitor its progress or receive notifications when it’s dirty.
In our tests, we discovered that the 11s did an admirable job of scooting under furniture and removing larger particles, like dry oats. But it struggled with fine dust on carpets and its sensors weren’t always able enough to discern the edges of the floor. The 11s was still easy to use and didn’t have major issues with stairs or raised floorboards. It also has a long battery life of 100 minutes which is sufficient for the majority of single-room tasks.
The RoboVac 11s from eufy’s main selling point is that it offers excellent performance for the money. It is quiet and does a great cleaning job on low-pile, medium-pile and bare floors. Its main drawbacks are mediocre maneuverability, and the absence of features that automate the process, such as boundary markers or voice controls. If you’re looking for these features, we suggest upgrading your eufy BoostIQ RobotVac 11s. It’s better-built and has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on a charge, and has superior maps and navigation capabilities. It also manages pet hair better and has a greater suction power.
