It also did a great job moving and didn’t hit my barstools like the iRobot J7+ in this test. The only issue with the ION XL is that it can’t detect shoes, cords or toys that are within its path. You will need to clean your home prior to when you use this vacuum if you want it to avoid them.

The ION XL robotic cleaner isn’t as smart as the iRobot j7+ but it’s a good alternative if you don’t want to spend over $500 on a robot. It’s better than the RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It’s more easy to maintain and has lower recurring costs. It also does a better job of vacuuming floors with no carpet and removing pet hair, but it doesn’t perform as well on low- or high-pile carpet.

It’s not as sturdy, but it’s still an excellent option. The ION XL is a powerful machine with a large capacity bin. It is operated by an app or a voice command and is easy to maintain. It also has an affordable price.
